Get set for Summer holidays

We know that getting the kids to eat something balanced for breakfast can be a real challenge! If it’s not ice cream or covered in chocolate then what’s the point? Well if it’s a Hungry Horse breakfast then it’s definitely something worth getting excited about! Every day through the summer holidays we’re offering every child a free breakfast when accompanied by a paying adult. That means they can get a good quality breakfast and you didn’t have to cook OR pay for it!

Plus we’ve lots of ideas for you to keep the kids entertained this summer

What more could you ask for?

GET CREATIVE WITH NATURE

Go to your favourite nature trail or local park and let them collect anything from leafs, twigs and Flowers to make their masterpiece. When they get home let them loose with all the art supplies you can find! Watch their imaginations go wild, or give them a theme and let them go from there.

The only issue you’ll have is finding space on the fridge to display with pride.

CREATE A MONSTER TRAIL

Grab your notebooks and pencils, pop your binoculars in your backpack and get ready for a day of adventure. We’ve all heard of the Gruffalo and the lochness monster but why not make up your own or find out about other mythical creatures to hunt for.

While you’re out, why not stop and let them draw what the monster looks like based off of your description. The best thing about this one is there will always be more monsters to hunt.

GO FOR A RUN

Going for an early, gentle park run is the perfect way to start the day. Throw in a little I-Spy and nature hunting along the way and it barely feels like exercise at all. End your run with a well deserved Big Hungry Horse brekkie, it’s  served ‘til 12pm, there’s plenty of time to refuel!

HOW WILL YOU ROCK?

There’s something brilliantly relaxing about balancing rocks. Of course, the moment you turn it into a game of ‘Who can build the tallest tower?’ things get tasty. If you think things might get a bit out of hand you could always cap it and make it “the first person to get to this height wins”  Join us for a big brekkie beforehand to plan your strategy

PICTIONARY CHALLENGE

After joining us for a big saucy breakfast, head home for a game of condiment Pictionary. Grab some paper, choose your weapon (ketchup or brown?) then take it in turns to draw as others try and decipher your dollops.

UK MUSEUM VISITS

Did you know there are over 170 free museums and galleries in the UK? There’s one dedicated to marbles. Another one to fossils. Even one with biscuit in its name. With all these options available the learning doesn’t have to take a break just because the schools are. So fill up on a big breakfast before filling up on culture.

CAR TRIP JACKANORY

One player is given three words (all nouns) then must invent a story on the spot that links them. Rumour has it when ‘Sausage, ‘Pub’ and ‘Beast’ were chosen the Sausageness Monster was born!

HAVE A GAME OF BINGO

The rules are simple. Choose five things to spot on your car journey. First one to tick off the full list wins. If where you’re going takes a little longer then why not go with ten items and if you need a place to sit and write your list, our doors are always open for family meetings!

BOOST MEMORY SKILLS

Passenger one starts by saying “For brekkie I’m having a…” then adds an item of food. The next player repeats the line and adds another ingredient. Get the order wrong and you’re out.
