Fun things to do with the kids this Christmas
From the moment the advent calendar doors start opening, excitement levels go through the roof - and parents everywhere begin looking for fun, affordable, and memory-making things to do with the kids at Christmas.
That’s where we come in. At Hungry Horse, we’ve got everything from Breakfast with Santa to twinkling decorations, festive food, and a place for kids to run wild (and parents to breathe) at Wacky Warehouse.
It’s Christmas, but with fewer tantrums, less washing up, and much more gravy.
Why Christmas at Hungry Horse is made for families
Christmas through a child’s eyes is pure magic: glittering lights, carols in the background, and that buzz of waiting for the big day.
But let’s be honest - as parents, it can also mean queues, sugar highs, and too much tinsel. That’s why Hungry Horse makes the perfect festive pit stop:
- It’s stress-free - no cooking, no dishes, no worries.
- It’s value-packed - kids’ mains, puddings, plus daily deals that keep budgets in check.
- It’s child-friendly - menus they’ll love, play areas to go wild in, and colouring sheets to enjoy.
- It’s magical - festive food, fairy lights, and a chance for kids to see Santa in the flesh.
At the end of the day, Christmas isn’t really about the presents under the tree; it’s about giving kids moments they’ll remember (and maybe a pudding covered in ice cream and sprinkles).
Breakfast with Santa!
One of the best things to do every year is to let the kids see the big guy in red!
Each year, Santa visits us to feast with the little ones and break bread over gifts and the naughty or nice list.
Bookings are open, but Santa said he only has time to climb down our pub chimneys on certain days, so have a look at which date is good for the dairy.
Expect breakfast, drink, and a few special surprises but spaces fill up quicker than Santa’s sleigh, so book early before the elves pinch all the tables!
The most wonderful time to visit Wacky Warehouse
When kids have had one too many candy canes, Wacky Warehouse is the place to let off steam.
Climbing, sliding, tumbling, it’s like Santa’s grotto, but noisier. Besides, you want the kids to be entertained without forking out more over the Christmas period.
Hey presto, that’s why these prices will have you feeling like you’re on the nice list:
- Two Week Play Pass - £9 (just 64p a day).
- One Month Play Pass - £14.
- Six Month Play Pass - £65 (a saving of almost £20).
- Childminder’s Play Pass - £30 (bring up to four kids daily).
It’s indoor fun that keeps kids entertained and parents sane.
AND, we have our famous Iced Shortbread Christmas Biscuits for £2 each plus FREE downloadable crafts, so you have even more things to do over the holidays!
The menu highlights
We know, we know. We do Christmas right! But all that playing around means one thing: major appetite. That’s why we’ve got a stacked kids’ menu, filled with their tasty favourites! Heck, even Santa would swap cookies and milk for some of these:
Build Your Own Tacos - kids can play chef with tortillas, chicken strips, salsa, cheese, and more.
- Impossible™ Nuggets - crispy, succulent, and classic.
- Beyond Burger™ - a plant-based option that’s as tasty as Rudolph’s carrots.
- Pasta Bolognese - comfort in a bowl for frosty nights.
- Candymania Ice Cream - a scoop of our famous ice cream, fluffy cream, candy-coated chocolate pieces, and a flake. Guaranteed sugar-rush smiles.
Top tip: grab a kids’ meal deal - a main, side, and drink combo from just £6. Or, for an extra quid, you can upgrade to a large meal deal and get access to even more options! It’s cheaper than Santa’s wrapping paper bill.
Things to do with kids at Christmas
You thought we were done there? No no, we’ve got plenty of cheer up our Christmas jumpers to sort you out for the whole holiday season.
Write that all-important Santa letter️
Get the little ones scribbling their wish lists to the big man in red.
Expect requests for ponies, PlayStations, and probably things you’ve never even heard of. Don’t forget to slip in your own request for socks that actually match this year.
Deck the halls (and the lounge, and the dog)
Kids love decorating the Christmas tree.
By “decorating,” we mean hanging all the baubles on one sagging branch while the rest of the tree looks like it’s on a diet.
Pro tip: let them go wild, then sneakily “re-distribute” once bedtime hits and blame it on those pesky elves.
The light safari
Pile into the car (dibs on the heated seat), whack on the Christmas tunes, and take the kids to ogle the lights around town.
There’s something magical about looking at the neighbourhood bright and cosy, and some of these blow-up dolls are getting realistic!
Bonus points for spotting the house that’s so bright it probably causes a minor power cut every evening.
Movie marathon mayhem
Stick on a Christmas film marathon - Elf, Home Alone, or anything that lets you sip hot chocolate in peace while the kids shout “KEVIN!” for the 47th time.
Warning: they’ll want to watch them all again on Boxing Day.
Build a gingerbread pub
Why settle for a gingerbread house when you can create a fully edible Hungry Horse?
Add a biscuit beer garden, marshmallow pints, and maybe a jelly baby landlord.
Just don’t expect it to last until New Year’s.
Festive fancy dress
Let the kids dress as elves, reindeer, or even a Christmas pudding (someone’s gotta do it).
Parents can join in too - though squeezing into last year’s novelty jumper is more comedy than costume.
You can choose themes, get family and friends involved, give out prizes, or take some embarrassing photos for the cards next year!
You’re not short on Christmas fun with Hungry Horse
Whether it’s a magical Breakfast with Santa, a kids’ meal deal after Christmas shopping, or a wild and wonderful afternoon at Wacky Warehouse, Hungry Horse is the perfect place for families this festive season.
Because while Santa might only visit once a year, we’re here all December making sure your Christmas is full of food, fun, and festive sparkle.
And let’s face it - what’s Christmas without a little hungry horseplay?
