Why you should play darts at a Hungry Horse pub

When it comes to the pub experience, a game of darts is as iconic as a cold pint of beer and a proper plate of pub grub.

And our Hungry Horse pubs are the home for friendly competition and great nights out, with free darts on offer for our customers. Think of it as your local social darts club, with no membership required.

Whether you’re playing with mates or pulling together a last-minute tournament, the competitive spirit soon kicks in between sips. Looking for more players? How about your fellow punters?!

You can’t beat the atmosphere of pubs with darts, too, with the crowd cheering on your great shots and keeping you laughing during those misses. And hey, if you miss the board completely, don't stress! It's not your own walls taking the hit, is it?

Many of our pubs also have beer gardens, so you can enjoy some fresh air and a bit of sunshine between games. Enjoy a game after a bite to eat, or stop by at the weekend for a few hours of fun. Whether it’s a catch-up with friends or a family showdown, social darts at the pub is an experience that always hits the mark.

Take a break from the dartboard and enjoy a drink at the bar

Darts might not be the most high-energy sport, but a few competitive rounds can still work up a thirst.

So when it’s time to cool off between a game, head to the bar and enjoy a well-earned drink. We’ve got plenty on tap, including ale, lager, and beer, as well as fine wine, spirits, cocktails and soft drinks.

Plus, we’ve got deals on our drinks, so even if you don’t get lucky at the dartboard, you can still feel like you’ve hit the bullseye with our savings.

Go from dartboard to sharing board with our tasty food menu

Feeling peckish between points? Our food menu is packed with pub classics, from small bites to sharing boards, full-on feasts and tasty puds. Whatever you fancy, we've got pub food to please.

Tuck into fish & chips, stacked burgers, hearty pies or even classic curries. We offer big portions and even bigger flavour, so come hungry and leave happy.

The dos and don'ts of pub darts

DO show the thrower a little respect

It may be tempting to put people off while they're lining up their shot, but that's not very sportsman-like, is it? Try and keep a bit of hush in the crowd, but if they miss in a spectacular fashion, we give you full permission to roast them.

DON'T walk in front of the shot

It sounds obvious, but you'd be surprised how many people accidentally walk into the line of fire. We want a nice game without any need for First Aid or a trip to A&E.

DO perfect your celebration

A smug smile, a mini bow or even a little lap of the pub. This is your moment to soak in the merriment. We won't judge.

DON'T be a sore loser

There can only be one winn.er, so don't have a grump on if you can't take the victory. Shake it off, wish the winner well or maybe even buy them a celebratory pint, and enjoy the rest of your night.

DO give your best Russ Bray when someone hits the 180

The legendary referee was known for his drawn-out announcement of the 180 score, so it's only fair to pay tribute with your own attempt. Take a big breath, go deep with your voice, and keep it going for as long as you can.

DON'T leave your darts in the board too long

This is a fast-paced game. Shoot your shot, pull out those arrows, and keep things moving!
