When is the Autumn Nations Series?
Kick off for the first Autumn Nations 2025 match between England and Australia is scheduled for Saturday 1st of November. The matches continue each weekend until the series concludes on Saturday the 29th of November, where Wales will face South Africa in one final clash.Who is playing in the Autumn Nations Series?
The 15 teams playing in this year’s Autumn Nations fixtures are made up of the Six Nations countries:
England
Scotland
Ireland
Italy
France
Wales
Plus, the four sides from The Rugby Championship:
Australia
New Zealand
South Africa
Argentina
And a few extra teams looking to improve their rankings:
USA
Japan
Fiji
Samoa
Tonga
Each team will play at least one match, with some playing on all four weekends.
There are some intense clashes in this Autumn Nations Series, including a game between the current top dogs South Africa and Ireland on the 22nd of November, which will no doubt switch up the pecking order.
Each win, loss and draw will count towards the World Rugby Rankings, where points are awarded and removed in a points exchange system. The number of points received or lost is based on the result of a match, combined with other criteria such as the strength of the team, the margin of victory and how important the match is. An improvement in rankings can improve the team’s chances of a good draw in the Rugby World Cup 2027, where some matches can even be awarded double points!
